Our Samsung Galaxy Z Fold7 Review

Revealed at Samsung’s Galaxy Unpacked event in July 2025 and launched globally later that same month, the Galaxy Z Fold7 represents the mobile giant’s most refined foldable to date. It’s ultra-thin, lightweight and packed with AI-enhanced features and top-tier specs - at a rather high price point.

Samsung Galaxy Z Fold7: Design

At just 8.9mm folded - and an astonishing 4.1mm unfolded - and weighing in at a mere 215g, the Fold7 is Samsung’s thinnest and lightest Fold yet.

It really is remarkably svelte, but that insubstantial design doesn’t come at the cost of materials or durability. Everything about the Fold7 is premium - an Armor Aluminum frame and Armor FlexHinge, Gorilla Glass Ceramic 2 on the outer display and Gorilla Glass Victus 2 on the back.

It also boasts the distinction of being the first-ever device in the Fold line that’s IP48 rated.

Samsung Galaxy Z Fold7: Display

Display is everything when it comes to the Fold line, which essentially combines a high-end smartphone with a small tablet, and accordingly Samsung haven’t skimped in that department here.

The main display is a spacious 8-inch QXGA+ Dynamic AMOLED 2X screen with a snappy 120Hz adaptive refresh rate and 2,600 nits peak brightness. It’s sharp, vivid and bright - exactly as you might expect. The smaller cover screen is a more modest 6.5-inch FHD+ panel (at a 21:9 aspect ratio), which also runs at 120Hz.

The crease - notoriously an issue with past foldables - is notably less visible in the Fold7, thanks to the redesigned hinge and multi-rail internal structure.

Samsung Galaxy Z Fold7: Camera

The Fold7 is the first of Samsung’s Fold flagships to match the camera prowess of the Galaxy S25 Ultra, especially with its 200MP sensor offering four times more detail than previous iterations.

In a nutshell, on the rear you’ll find said 200MP wide lens (with Optical Image Stabilisation), a 12MP ultrawide and a 10MP telephoto lens with 3x optical zoom, while on the front you’re looking at a wider-angle camera for improved selfie experience. All in all it’s a powerful package, and easily the most robust camera rig on a Fold yet.

Samsung Galaxy Z Fold7: Performance

The Fold7 runs a customised Snapdragon 8 Elite chipset with either 12GB or 16GB RAM - a powerhouse processing setup that delivers the exceptional speed and efficiency that you’d expect at this price point.

In terms of software, the Fold7 ships with Android 16 and One UI 8 (with up to 7 years of OS and security updates), and includes Galaxy AI features like Gemini Live, Generative Edit and multimodal AI assistance. You’ll also get strong privacy via KEEP and quantum-safe encryption.

It’s a solid package that should meet the needs of most tech enthusiasts or productivity obsessives.

On the battery front, it’s a bit of a mixed bag - although nothing really out of the ordinary for a modern flagship device. A 4,400mAh dual-cell battery (consistent with previous generations) will get you 12-18 hours of mixed usage on a full charge.

How much is the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold7?

The Samsung Galaxy Z Fold7 is not cheap. If you buy outright, it’ll set you back around £1,799 with 256GB storage and 12GB RAM, or as much as £2,149 with 1TB and 16GB RAM.

A pricey proposition, but it’s also worth noting that there are a lot of contract deals out there to help spread the cost, and Samsung themselves offer various financing and trade-in options to help make the device more affordable.
