The Apple iPhone 15 is similar to the iPhone 14 Pro, taking many of its best elements and slightly expanding upon them. A vastly improved camera and a much-needed feature is now available on the base phone, closing the gap to the Pro models.

Between the 15 and the 15 Plus, there really is no difference other than the size.

Apple iPhone 15 Plus: Display

The 6.7-inch OLED 60Hz display returns for the iPhone 15 Plus, but the difference-maker in the display now is the addition of the Dynamic Island which was only available on the iPhone 14 Pro and Pro Max.

To have it on the base iPhone 15 and Plus now as well is an excellent touch as it is a brilliant feature that eliminates a dead part at the top of the phone that really took away from the pristine design of the phone.

The Dynamic Island brings more functionality to the phone, acting as a hub for all your alerts and notifications such as flight status, who is calling you, and much more.

Apple iPhone 15 Plus: Camera

The camera on the iPhone 15 has taken a huge step up from the base version of the iPhone 14. There is still two lenses on the back, but the main sensors have been improved from 12MP to 48MP.

Boasting f/1.6 aperture, the iPhone 15 camera will better perform in low light and enables a 2x digital zoom that before would have needed a dedicated lens to achieve.

The Pro and Pro Max still feature the best upgrades in the camera technology for the range, but upping the base iPhone 15 to 48MP does do a lot for those who like their photography but can’t afford to splash out on the Pro.

Apple iPhone 15 Plus: Design

The iPhone 15 is as sleek as ever, keeping to the same overall look and feel as its predecessors. The big differences are that the mute switch is gone and they have transitioned from the Lightning port to the worldwide standard USB-C.

While it isn’t a big surprise they have done this since the EU ruled that all mobiles must use a USB-C port, Apple did make a big point that this change will be coming to all their products going forward.

The iPhone 15 uses the A16 Bionic chip that is featured in the iPhone 14 Pro range, providing a big boost in performance this year on the base model compared to older base models.

The new iOS 17 will be available immediately on the iPhone 15, coming with new features such as; Live Voicemail, which will display a live transcript of a voicemail if you don’t answer; StandBy mode, adding a clock feature when your phone goes into standby; Contact Posters, so you can create a customisable picture for your contacts, and much more.

Apple has declared that the iPhone 15 will have an all-day battery life, although they have not stated how big the battery is exactly.

There will be three storage sizes for the iPhone 15: 128GB, 256GB and 512GB.

Apple has cut the prices of the full iPhone 15 range this year, with the 15 and 15 Plus down £50 from last year.

Apple iPhone 15 Plus: Our verdict

While Apple have taken a lot of things from the iPhone 14 Pro and brought it over to the iPhone 15, they have improved on them and overall made it a great base phone - better than in their base iPhone past.

The Pro envy this year doesn’t feel as big as in the past as the gap between the 15 and the 15 Pro is smaller than it has been in past iterations. Although we will say, with the only difference between the iPhone 15 and 15 Plus is the size, there really is nothing that makes the 15 Plus anymore more desirable than the 15.
