The S10 is a fantastic tenth anniversary device for the innovative S series with a stunning super AMOLED display, ultra-wide lens and new wireless powershare feature.

Samsung Galaxy S10

Our Samsung Galaxy S10 Review

The sleekly designed S10 is an improvement on last year's S9 in every way. The two main highlights are a curved super AMOLED 6.1-inch display which ensures everything you stream will look amazing and a fantastic triple-lens camera that's packed with clever features. Performance is also lightning-fast, battery life is great and Wireless PowerShare is compatiable with all kinds of devices, even iPhones.

Samsung Galaxy S10 Display

Samsung are renowned for crafting stunning smartphone displays and their latest flagship is no exception. The S10 boasts a huge, beautifully vibrant 6.1-inch super AMOLED display which offers lovely rich colours, high levels of brightness and support for HDR10+.

Resolution sits at a crisp Full HD+ and the sleekly curved sides spill right over the edge to offer even more space. Samsung have elected to ditch the notch and instead house the dual front camera in a small pinhole on right hand side which might look like it would be quite distracting, but is actually very unobtrusive.

Samsung Galaxy S10 Camera

The S10 has a grand total of five cameras, three on the back and two on the front, which is the most ever seen on a Samsung device. It’s hugely versatile and photos look absolutely superb, packed with detail and vivid colours that look nicely realistic. Low light shots are excellent too and contain barely any noise.

The ultra-wide lens and live focus are two of the S10’s standout features, letting you take Instagram worthy fish-eye group shots and colour the subject while the background remains monochrome. Video can be shot in 4K at an impressive 60fps with digital video stabilization and HDR10+ for greatly improved dynamic range.

Samsung Galaxy S10 Design

The S10 is a very attractive smartphone which consists of two highly-polished sheets of tough Gorilla Glass 6 for a nicely premium look held together by a sturdy aluminum frame. The front is almost all taken up by that fantastic screen with a huge 93.1% screen-to-body ratio and just three vertically arranged camera lenses sit on the back so it feels very cool and clean.

Despite this nearly all-encompassing display and inclusion of a headphone jack, the S10 is sleek and lightweight at just 157g and 7.8mm thick. A responsive ultrasonic fingerprint sensor now sits in the display rendering it invisible when your device is asleep and it’s IP68 water and dust resistant as you’d expect at this price.

Samsung Galaxy S10 Performance

At the heart of the S10 sits some seriously powerful hardware namely Samsung’s own top-of-the-line Exynos 9820 chipset and a massive 8GB of RAM. These combine to offer a lightning-fast performance which never becomes slow or sluggish no matter how much you throw at it. From HD streaming to graphically-intensive gaming, everything will run seamlessly.

Battery is equally as excellent and you should generally always make it through to the end of the day off a full charge. The S10 also supports next-generation wi-fi 6 which gives you an impressive 20% speed boost when you’re connected to a compatible router.

Samsung Galaxy S10 Features

A combination of Google's Android 9 Pie OS and brand-new version of their custom UI runs on the S10 which is pleasingly slick, smooth and intuitive to use. It looks and feels quite different from Samsung's previous skin but all of these changes work to enhance the user experience. Native apps for example, now have everything lower on the screen so it's easier to use one-handed.

Phone-like gestures have been included for the first time and Wireless PowerShare, probably the S10's most publicised new feature, allows you to use it as a charging mat for any device which supports the QI wireless charging standard including iPhones and Samsung Galaxy Buds.

How much is the Samsung Galaxy S10?

You should expect to pay around £800 to own Samsung’s latest premium flagship device outright. If that’s your plan, we recommend opting for a SIM only as there’s plenty of fantastic deals out there some of which start from as little as £10 a month. A pay-as-you-go contract isn’t really worth it when you can get them this cheap.

The majority of customers will find the pay monthly contract the best option. There’s almost an endless amount to choose from on just about every network so you’re sure to find your perfect combination of minutes, texts and data.

Samsung Galaxy S10 Our Verdict

The Samsung S10 is easily one of the best and most powerful Android smartphones around right now. It's huge 6.1-inch curved edge display is fantastically vibrant while its triple-lens rear camera is capable of taking some truly amazing shots and the performance is absolutely faultless.
