Our Samsung Galaxy S24+ Review

The new Samsung Galaxy S24+ takes a nice step up from last year's model, bringing in the usual upgraded hardware components but also integrating their new Galaxy AI, making the phone smarter than ever before.

The differences between the base and the + are rather minimal, but they do make a difference.

Samsung Galaxy S24+: Display

The display on the S24+ matches that of the Ultra, with a 1440 x 3120 dynamic AMOLED 2X screen offering 120Hz and HDR10+. It also features higher peak nits, with 2600 on the S24+ providing superior peak brightness.

Samsung Galaxy S24+: Camera

Samsung has saved the best new camera features for the Ultra, so the S24+ has no improvement over the base S24 or even the S23+ - but that’s not a bad thing by any means.

For one, that’s basically what Samsung and all brands do, leaving the best tech to the flagship. But that S24+ camera still produces stunning quality photos using its three rear cameras, one 50MP wide, one 12MP ultrawide and one 10MP telephoto.

It has 3x optical zoom on the telephoto camera and a 12MP selfie camera. As for recording video, you can capture in 8K at 30FPS or 4K at 60FPS.

Samsung Galaxy S24+: Design

The S24+ has been designed to be slightly bigger than the S23+ - 0.1 inches bigger, to be precise, now coming in at 6.7 inches. It also weighs 197g, only 1g heavier than the S23+.

Samsung Galaxy S24+: Performance

Unfortunately for consumers outside the USA, Canada and China, the S24+ won’t have the new Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 chipset, instead utilising Samsung’s own Exynos 2400 processor.

This is not a step back at all, as the Exynos is more than capable of providing a smooth user experience. It automatically enhances graphics and gameplay for mobile gaming, ensuring it looks at its best.

The battery has seen a slight improvement, growing to 4900mAh, providing even more screen time. 

It will also feature 12GB of RAM for both storage options, which again matches the Ultra and is better than the 8GB offered on both options of the base S24, marking the last real major difference between the two.

Samsung Galaxy S24+: Features & Galaxy AI

The new Galaxy AI will be implemented on the full S24 range and it brings with it, as Samsung themselves say, “meaningful intelligence to enhance every part of life.” 

It boasts features such as Live Translate, which enables barrier-free communication with intelligent text and call translations, and Chat Assist to better help communication by ensuring the right tone is conveyed and more.

As always, the Samsung Galaxy S24+ will come with two price options depending on what storage you choose.

Samsung Galaxy S24+: Our verdict

While on the surface it doesn’t seem like an improvement, the Samsung Galaxy S24+ is a strong new entry in the latest Galaxy S+ range.

The implementation of Galaxy AI is what puts it over the S23+. While it may be coming for the previous phones, with it being implemented from the start on the S24 range, it will always be better utilised in them, thus giving it a good advantage.
